Why Are We Here?
The Alabama Repair Board was born of Alabamians in need of a source for repair knowledge and education. It is only because of Alabamians that our organization was created, and will continue to be the reason why we continue the cause the Board was founded for. In order to ensure our state receives the best and brightest for the service, we collaborate with other American repair organizations like the Repair Association
Where did the Board Come From?
As a nation of pragmatists, it is no surprise that Alabama would react to the degenerating trends within the tech industry. Specifically, with how difficult it is to repair contemporary devices. The Alabama Repairists action group was started in 2017 as a response to poor practices in both computing and farm equipment.
In 2022, Alabamians' advocacy resulted in the introduction of the Senate Bill SB-129, declaring the need to produce a state organization to provide repair to its citizens. SB-129 was passed, and the Alabama Repair Board was underway to construction. The first meeting of the officiated ARB was in January of 2023, where staff, missions, and the first iteration of the Board's site was determined. We are a new organization, but have made an effort to provide a service as well-developed and useful as any other. As we grow we hope to do in-person events and services to enact our cause even further.
